Communications & Advocacy Strategy

With over 16 years of experience working in digital communications, including with Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) and numerous non-profit clients, Sean Brokenshire has experience strategising and responding to operational and brand crises, planning medical communications packages, producing humanitarian advocacy campaigns, operational communications, content strategies, social media strategies, and more.

Creative & Content Production

Sean’s audio-visual skills have seen him sent to field projects in Cambodia, Papua New Guinea and Bangladesh to produce photography and video communication packages for Médecins Sans Frontières Australia across medical and humanitarian issues such as multi-drug resistant tuberculosis, sexual and gender-based violence, occupational health & safety, measles, mental health, and refugee camp conditions.

 

Sean has also designed digital communications materials for social media campaigns, websites and campaign microsites, eDM campaigns, advocacy campaigns and more. Notably, Sean helped capture video testimonies from MSF’s mental health staff that worked on Nauru, along with the MSF Australia president. This content was an important part of the advocacy campaign that launched the ‘Indefinite Despair’ report in Parliament House, Canberra. Sean also live-streamed several press conferences for this campaign.

 

For several years, Sean was also responsible for designing the International Women’s Day campaign microsites for Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders), and led a small team responsible for producing the social media campaign material.

 

Sean has also been a podcast contributor for Médecins Sans Frontières’ international monthly podcast.

Analysis & Reporting

Sean has expert knowledge across Google Analytics and the various social media analytics providers. To assist Médecins Sans Frontières Australia measure the success of their communications material from creation through to dissemination, Sean developed a bespoke app that combined data from Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn and Google Analytics so that a global picture of each content package’s reach and engagement could be gained.
